Holiday Training - The Tough Reality

Dear All

Enjoying this week a well earned rest on the Norfolk Broads. So no swimming pool and in any event my youngest son managed to cut his head the day before we left -ruling out taking him swimming for at least a week.

We also this time didn't take the bike rack / 4 bikes so ruling out cycling too. In the end the family activity was a little walking although nowhere near as much as I would have liked. So that just left calisthenics - which is in my view the best method for making things happen, although time on holiday always seems so squeezed.

In the boot of my car I have a nylon duffle bag (in fact a surfer's bag which is larger) and in there I keep gym rings for that proverbial tree branch in the garden, a skipping rope pre-cut to size and weight gloves. Yet there was nothing suitable for this kit and the garden was mostly soaked in any event

So it was back to the old faithfuls - mountain climbers, burpees, push-ups, chair dips, pike presses, bridge presses, planks, seated V raises, ab walk-outs,lunges and (supported ) pistol squats to keep some level of training going. Its amazing what you can do in a short period.

Tomorrow its back to the real world and hopefully more full-on training.New ambition as well as increasing my rep count on the chin up is to learn the dragon flag and start learning the awesome human flag.

Happy traning!
